In 1983, the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) was found by the initiative of individual European materials scientist, who were inspired by the MRS meetings in the USA. Each year, E-MRS organizes, co-organizes, sponsors or co-sponsors numerous scientific events and meetings. The major society conference, the E-MRS Spring Meeting, is organized every year in May or June and offers on average 25 topical symposia. It is widely recognized as being of the highest international significance.

Tim Freund (PhD student in Project I) was granted the opportunity to present the status and progresses of two projects revolving around the synthesis of chalcogenide perovskite thin films as part of
Symposia A: Materials for energy applications: hydrogen storage/production, solar cells, super capacitors, thermoelectric & carbon based materials.
He presented the advances for the “utilization of BaS3 for the synthesis of BaZrS3 thin films” and showed the progress in the “electrodeposition for the fabrication of BaZr(S,Se)3 based thin films” as a poster. Both routes present new routes for the fabrication of chalcogenide perovskite thin films, which are highly sought.

Prof. Dr. Peter Wellmann (PI of Project I) has been the president of the European Materials Reseach Society from May 2019 until August 2021.
