The KERAMIK 2023 took place in Jena and in Hermsdorf this year from 27. – 30.03.2023 . A total of 9 representatives from the Institute for Glass and Ceramics went to this year’s annual meeting to exchange on current topics and to present their research.

Among them there were four PhD students belonging to the IRTG program: Juliana Maier (1st cohort, Project F), Michelle Weichelt (2nd cohort, Project D), as well as Swantje Simon and Patrizia Hoffmann (Associates, Project D). Tobias Fey (PI, Project D) and Neamul Khansur (Associate, Project F) participated in the programme with a 30 min talk opening a session at the Keramik 2023. The master student Isabella Spath from the working group of Tobias Fey also got the opportunity to go to the conference and get an insight into the everyday life of a researcher.

The highlight for everyone of the institute glass and ceramics this year was surely the Hans-Walter-Hennicke lecture competition in which Michelle Weichelt participated with the results of her master’s thesis on the topic ‚Co – Extrusion of Alumina Core – Shell Structures Fabricated by Robocasting‘. In the end, she stood out against 5 other participants and took first place. Congratulations, Michelle, on this great achievement!

With this success, Michelle gets the chance to represent the Deutsche Keramik Gesellschaft DKG at the ECers Student Speech contest 2023 at the XVIIIth Conference of the European Ceramic Society.
