Invited Talk: Dr. Shaoxiong Xie on Lead-free ferroic materials for sensing and energy storage applications

Ferroics are important functional materials widely used for sensing and energy
storage applications. With rapid development of science and technology, optimization
and higher performance of ferroics are required. The development of novel
ferroelectric and antiferroelectric materials for sophisticated and high-tech
applications is also a major challenge. Bismuth titanate (BIT) based ceramics are
considered promising for high-temperature sensing applications. This work will
discuss the influence of domain structure on enhancing the piezoelectric properties in
doped BIT ceramics. Following this, high-entropy solid solutions based on
BiFeO3-BaTiO3 (BF-BT) will be presented that possess high energy storage
performance for practical energy applications. And finally, novel 2D
organic-inorganic hybrid antiferroelectric materials are proposed to develop by high
throughput (HT) methods for future energy storage applications.
