How long were you in Nagoya and with which research group?

I lived in Nagoya in March and April 2023. I have been kindly hosted by Prof. Ogatas research group.

What did you research while you were there?

I have been mainly focusing on the writing stage of my research.
I learned the basics of neural network and machine learning and attending a weekly meeting about Molecular Dynamics. Furthermore, I performed a seminar about presentation skills to the group, sharing what I learned during a 2 days workshop provided by IRTG on the same topic and a presentation in Prof. Hanedas group.

What was the most interesting thing about your experience?

Understanding and integrating myself in a completly different social environment

What was one thing that you found especially different?

The lack of the city urban plan. There are way less restrictions and criteria regarding what to build and where.

What was one thing that you found very similar?

The sharing of the hiking passion with unknown people heading to the peak of the mountain.

Where else did you travel in Japan?

I traveled to Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kobe, Tottori, Gero, Mount Fuji area, Takayama, Tokyo and hiked along the Kumano Kodo in Wakayama prefecture.

What will you always remember?

The guesthouses, the onsen, the tropical vegetation even at 2000mt and the first swim in the Pacific ocean.
