Udo Eckstein successfully defended his doctoral thesis on “Structural and Chemical relaxation in aerosol-deposited barium titanate thick films”. During his research he developed a method to produce freestanding films that he used to investigate the influence of defects on the functional properties. Here, he also observed an interesting thermal contraction with increasing temperature related to the grain boundary defects and oxygen reincorporation. During his doctorate he was an associated doctoral researcher in Project F. Congratulations, Udo on a successful dissertation!

Currently he is receiving the start-up funding. This is a fund helping promising early career researchers to pursue an independent project directly following the completion of the doctorate. His research project title is: High Throughput Engineering of a Lead-Free Ternary Piezoelectric System for Energy-Harvesting Devices
