Congratulations to Dr. habil. Frank Wendler!
On Monday July 21st, Dr. Frank Wendler (Project K) received his habilitation certificate, handed over by Prodekan Prof. Dr. Marc Stamminger. For this achievement, which is an academic qualification for independent research and teaching at the university level, he submitted his thesis entitled „Modeling and Simulation of Thermomechanically Coupled Loading Problems for Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) Devices„.
Frank focussed on one strand of his research that involved constitutive modeling of SMAs, applied to simulating dynamic loading in micro-dampers, folding actuators in micro-origami-based meta-materials and novel compliant fixtures in dental implants. This finally finished, he wants to note that he has now fresh capacities to progress his work in the IRTG on atomic-scale informed domain-scale modeling.
